Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) applies to children from birth to the end of the Reception year. At Roman Way Academy, children join the Nursery in the year they turn four and the Reception class in the year that they turn five. In Nursery we also offer afternoon sessions, in the summer term for ‘early risers’ (children who will be four in the September). In partnership with parents and carers we enable the children to begin the process of becoming active learners for life. We believe in a ‘holistic’ approach and consider the children’s physical, personal, social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing as well as cognitive aspects of learning.
At Roman Way Academy we provide a high quality EYFS education giving children a secure and confident start to their school life. We are committed to nurturing a lifelong love of learning alongside the aims of the EYFS statutory framework. We strive for high standards, consider the development of the whole child and seek to foster resilience and independence. We aim to provide the essential knowledge that children need to prepare them for their future success and to give children the best possible start to their early education.
