Head's Welcome
On behalf of the children, staff and governors, I would like to welcome you to Roman Way Academy. I feel not only privileged but proud to be the Headteacher of a school where the children are kept at the heart of every decision we make.
Our school is a hub for learning, imagination, exploration and aspirations where memorable lifelong learning experiences are encountered. Children at Roman Way Academy start their first stage of education in our Nursery and Reception classes, both surrounded by purposeful and truly engaging learning environments, both indoors and outdoors. Our staff team recognise the importance and value of oracy and early reading skills which are at the heart of the Early Years curriculum.
The school building is surrounded by extensive fields and outdoor learning areas that support and enhance the children’s learning experiences. For example, we have a Secret Garden that has been dedicated to Her Majesty the late Queen. This was opened by Sir Oliver Heald on Friday the 5th May 2023. In addition, we are extremely fortunate to have our very own swimming pool where all children learn to swim.
Our school values ‘Ready, Respectful and Safe’ form the language of Roman Way and are threaded through everything we do. The children’s behaviour and attitudes to learning are a credit to our school community.
We value and encourage parental involvement, so we can fully understand your child’s needs and adapt our curriculum. We pride ourselves on the family feel our school offers. Our parents share that the staff at Roman Way are nurturing, ambitious and work hard to create an educational experience that enables our children to achieve their academic potential. The same high expectations are expected of our children at Roman Way where there is progress to celebrate every day.
Our dedicated and active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a valued part of our school community and a great team to join if you have some spare time to make a difference.
Underpinning all this is Roman Way’s commitment to ensuring that all our children possess the values, skills and knowledge to prepare, shape and influence them for the next phase of their educational journey as well as enabling them to make a positive contribution to our local community and wider world.
