Weekly Update 14 - w/c 24 February

It was lovely to welcome the children back for the second half of the Spring term.

Our topic this half term is ‘Ready Steady Grow’. To start this week, we learnt about how important farms are for providing us with food. Some farms grow crops and vegetables, others look after animals. We thought about whether the food we eat comes from plants or animals. We then looked at farms and what we might find on a farm. The children drew their own maps of a farm.

In Drawing Club, we used the animation ‘Let’s Go’ as a stimulus for our writing. The animation following a little pink creature, who loves to dance, being pursued around the house by a black cat. The children absolutely loved watching the animation and it inspired lots of imaginative writing and drawing.

Here is the link to the animation – I promised the children I would send it so they could watch it at home! https://www.literacyshed.com/dont-go.html

In maths, we looked at time and how we have lots of ways of measuring time. We looked at sequencing time, looking at what we do on a normal school day.

In PE, we have begun looking at ball skills. This week we have been rolling: ensuring we bend our knees, get low down and focus on our target when rolling.
